Mosquito control efforts using aerial spraying of the organophosphate insecticide naled alternating with aerial spraying of the larvicide Bacillus thuringiensis subspeciesisraelensis (Bti) appear to have halted local mosquito transmission of Zika virus in Florida, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Other prevention measures and ground-based applications of larvicides and adulticides also helped reduce mosquito counts.
